Asymptomatic animals capable of infecting humans
Ok, this really isn’t what I normally blog about but I had to throw this one out. In yesterday’s Post, on the front page was an article that mentioned that animals can carry diseases that do not make them sick, but can make humans sick.
Now, unless I’m mistaken this has been known for decades if not centuries, hence the strong suggestion that you cook your meat and wash your hands and preparation surfaces. While I’m of the opinion that it’s likely best to eat meat from disease free animals, what’s the likelihood that any animal we eat is actually disease free? Are the numbers of infected animals in the food processing chain actually rising or did no one - like the article suggests - actually test this stuff before.
Before anyone panics, it would be good to determine a baseline and see if the problem is roughly static, improving or getting worse.
